Choosing Between the Four Types of Grills

Without a doubt, one of the best ways to prepare food is grilling and smoking. The distinct flavor of food cooked using these methods are simply something that can't be replicated with other means of cooking. Not even pan frying. Buying a grilling equipment is definitely one of the best investments in household equipment. However, it's worth mentioning that there are different types of grills to choose from. One can't simply read a comprehensive list of barbecue tricks and tips, go to the store and immediately buy just any grill they set their eyes on. Different types of grills provide solutions for different preferences, location and available space.

The gas powered grill is the biggest one of them all. This is because it has to allocate a space for the gas tank that provides the fuel for combustion, which then provides heat for cooking food. Grilling using this type of equipment is rather easy since all it needs to start is turning a knob. The downside of gas grills is its very size. It needs a lot of floor area, which is why it's generally found in the yard. It's also not ideal for indoor use because of the gas emission. For families who have the space for one, this is definitely a great option.

The second type of grill is charcoal grill. Almost every grilling expert agrees that this type of grill is the best one when it comes to providing best tasting food. The reason for this is because charcoal provides a smoky flavor to meat and veggies, something that other options aren't able to replicate.

Portable grills can somehow provide a smoky taste as well, since they can be fired up using either coal or wood. What sets them apart from charcoal grills though is that they are relatively small and can even be carried along when camping. Campers can enjoy barbecue camp recipes using this portable equipment. How most people use portable grills is also one of the reasons why it isn't categorized as a charcoal grill. And that's because there virtually isn't any access to coal in the wilderness, only dried wood for firing up the portable grill.

The fourth type of grill is the least favorite of grilling enthusiasts. Ironically, it's the most common one especially in urban areas. Electric grills may not be able to provide that burnt, smoky taste to meat, but it's definitely an answer to small living spaces. Electric grills can be placed on top of kitchen counters which is something that apartment and studio dwellers can appreciate. Given that it's practically the only option for grill they have, it makes perfect sense that larger ones like gas grills are not viable.

Determining which of the four types of grill the family can afford and use effectively is important. It makes shopping for one extremely easier since the options are already cut down to one or two specific types of grills.
